During your stay at Nutcombe, your safety is paramount to us. Therefore, please take the time on arrival to familiarize yourself with our FIRE EVACUATION PLAN in the Welcome Folder so you know the procedures and escape routes available within the building. Copies of the Fire Evacuation Plan are also on the back of the bedroom doors.
DURING YOUR STAY
In line with New Government Regulations on Fire Safety in Self-Catering Accommodation dated 1st October 2023, please note that we cannot allow:
Your own electrical goods would not have been PAT tested and if a fire is caused by the use of any of these items, our insurance will be invalid, so please help us to keep everyone safe.
The Charging of laptops, Tablets and mobiles is fine but please do not charge overnight, disconnect leads from the mains when charged and only use manufacturer provided charging leads.
Please also be aware of other common fire hazards such as:
To help keep yourselves safe during your stay, we also ask that bedroom doors are closed at night to help compartmentalize a fire should one occur.
Advise to parents:
Please be aware that in order to comply with New Fire Regulations 2023, all Fire Escape doors are fitted with thumb turns for key-less escape. This means that all bedroom doors are easily openable so parents should be aware with young children.
If you have any fire safety concerns or incidents during your stay, please notify us immediately.
FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
All of the cottages are fitted with a smoke alarm in the living area, one in each of the bedrooms and one in the downstairs hallway plus a Heat/CO alarm in the kitchen areas.
Should any one alarm be activated, all of the alarms will sound (it will be VERY loud!)
If any of the alarms are activated, you should vacate the property immediately following the Emergency Procedures below.
In the event of power failure, emergency lights will illuminate at the top and bottom of the stairs and there are Emergency Torches in each bedroom and the kitchen to aide escape.
See below for information in the cottages on how to silence false alarms

FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT
A multi- purpose fire extinguisher is located in the kitchen as well as the downstairs hallway. There is also a fire blanket in the kitchen.
These should only be used if it is deemed safe to do so, or to aide escape. Follow instructions on the extinguishers or fire blanket.
